When The Escapologist escape rooms were expanding to become a chain of five locations, as well as starting to franchise, they needed a new website with a streamlined customer journey focused on bringing the escape room experience to life to drive online bookings.

STEP INTO AN INTRIGUING ESCAPE ROOM WORLD

When we previously helped The Escapologist to expand to Xscape Yorkshire with a launch marketing campaign, we developed their brand strapline of ‘Escape from the everyday to the extraordinary’.

Now that they were opening at another high footfall destination, the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds, and working with franchisees, it was time to take the brand to the next level. We did this by creating an online world to bring their mysterious escape rooms to life without giving too much away!

THE CUSTOMER JOURNEY TO PURCHASE

When we considered the customer journey, we learnt that there are two main reasons for purchasing – escape room theme and location. We built in functionality so that the various escape rooms could be filtered by both of these.

This functionality makes cross-selling similar themed escape rooms at different locations easier and also provides the opportunity for up-selling food and drink at specific locations.

Through structuring the locations by region, we also future-proofed the website so it meets The Escapologist’s needs as they further achieve their ambitious growth plans.

UNDERSTANDING THE TARGET AUDIENCE

Whilst a great customer journey will help to drive sales, it’s not the main reason why prospective customers will go on to buy.

It’s the experience that motivates people to book. Taking their kids on a magical sleigh ride to the North Pole or escaping the January blues are the customer needs which we tapped into when promoting The Escapologist’s new website.
